This week, Head Coach Brian Schmetzer joined the pod to discuss the team’s return to voluntary individual training.
Schmetzer, who coached both Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans during their playing days with the club, discusses how getting back on the pitch has boosted squad morale during in the midst of an unprecedented situation.
“They were really, really excited to see each other,” said Schmetzer. “The second part of that is they were excited to open their legs up a little bit, get on the grass field again and kick a ball around.”
During the rest of the interview, they pour over myriad topics, including the 2009 squad, using the down time to tweak the team’s game model, integrating João Paulo, and his favorite moments as a player and coach.
