TUKWILA, Wash. — Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey was not with the team at training at Starfire Sports on Tuesday.
Dempsey returned to Seattle last week after undergoing a procedure for an irregular heartbeat on the East Coast and had been cleared to exercise and participate in light drills. When asked of his whereabouts, Sounders interim head coach Brian Schmetzer was mum.
“I can’t comment on that,” Schmetzer said, before confirming that Dempsey is still in the Seattle area.
Dempsey did not train on Monday either and Schmetzer had little details about his whereabouts then as well.
“It’s [regeneration] day,” Schmetzer said on Monday.
The team has a scheduled off day on Wednesday before returning to training on Thursday morning.
