Social Timeline: Sounders FC dominate New England in opening match of 2015 season

Obafemi Martins 3915

Now THAT is how you kick off a season.

Holy smokes. What a performance from the Sounders FC in the opening match of the year. The anticipation was building and building and building, despite a short offseason, and the Rave Green certainly delivered. Playing against last year's Eastern Conference representative in the MLS Cup Final, the New England Revolution, the Sounders made short work of the visitors in an impressive 3-0 victory.

Oh and Clint Dempsey scored a pair of goals and assisted on Obafemi Martins' goal. So that's a good start.

Let us recap the magical day that saw your favorite footy club return to the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field for the first time in nearly 100 days. It's true, I counted.

Today was the day. Well, yesterday. Or Sunday. Whatever.

Awwww DeAndre! We miss you so.

Was a pleasure working with this guy. Great MLS career, great pro.

Drew was in town! Hi Drew!

Oh Kasey.

He would have a pretty solid game. You’ll see.

Captain America. What a cool nickname, you guys.

We really feel the love from our friends at the Reign.

SFC Snapchat game was off the hook yesterday.

Hello Major League Soccers!

Ross Fletcher IN THE HOUSEEEEEEEEE!

The NINETY is 90 types of cool.

Yep, those lyrics will forever be in your head.

Lineups! Lineups! Lineups!

Cool new lineups video! OMGGGGG

You’re not allowed on the pitch, Jackie!

Wouldn’t want to mess with that guy.

Oh I missed you so.

Awwww love from the Seahawks!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Well that didn’t take long. CLINNNNNNNNNNTTTT DEMPPPPPYSEYYYY.

Yes we do, @SoundersFC on Twitter. Yes we do. (I also realize that I’m more or less speaking to myself here).

Oba with the HEADER. He’s like 5’9”, y’all!

Pretty solid first half…and by solid I mean near perfect.

Oh boy, oh boy. That was something else.

Let’s make it three, shall we?

Shrewd analysis by our very own Jackie Montgomery.

This was the nicest goal the Sounders have scored in a long time.

Thank you indeed. What a terrific audience.

That’s a keeper right there.

HOT TAKE! HOT TAKE! HOT TAKE!

Roldaninho made his debut and despite being 25 seconds long, it was cool to see him out there.

When Oba says it’s next level, it’s next level. And now more from the players…

Fin.

We really did.

AND MONDAY IS CLINT’S BIRTHDAY. What a whirlwind 24 hours. I need a nap.
