United States Senate passes resolution congratulating Seattle Sounders on winning 2019 MLS Cup

The Seattle Sounders got some love from the other Washington for their 3-1 win over Toronto FC at CenturyLink Field on November 10.


On December 19, the United States Senate passed a resolution congratulating the club on winning the 2019 MLS Cup. Passed by unanimous consent, the resolution was sponsored by Senator Maria Cantwell and co-sponsored by Senator Patty Murray.


The legislation, dubbed Senate Resolution 461, also congratulates the club on its positive impact in the community.


An excerpt from the resolution:


    “Whereas the owners of Seattle Sounders FC have built a culture of success and contributed greatly to Seattle, Washington, and the surrounding region through philanthropy;


Whereas Seattle Sounders FC has exhibited dedication to positive social impacts by strengthening communities through the RAVE Foundation partnership with organizations in Seattle, Washington, and the surrounding region; and


Whereas the dedication and hard work of Seattle Sounders FC has inspired and empowered girls, boys, women, and men of all ages.”
