10-man Sounders FC 2 earns road draw at Whitecaps FC 2

S2 vs WFC2

LANGLEY, B.C.
- Jordan Schweitzer scored a brace as a 10-man Seattle Sounders FC 2 (9-11-7, 34 points) earned a road point at Whitecaps FC 2 (11-7-9, 42 points) Monday at McLeod Athletic Park. Marco Bustos also scored twice for the home side as the Rave Green equalized twice despite playing a man down for the final 40 minutes of play. With three games remaining in the 2016 USL season, Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson's club is currently tied for ninth in the Western Conference, just one point behind San Antonio FC for the eighth and final postseason spot. S2 next travels to face the OKC Energy at Taft Stadium on Sunday, September 11 (4:00 p.m. PT / Live-Streamed on SoundersFC.com).
After Bustos struck first for Whitecaps FC 2 in the third minute, Schweitzer equalized in the 21
st
for his third of the season. Fellow Homegrown Player Darwin Jones fed Schweitzer, who then combined with Irvin Parra for a shot inside the area that went to the bottom right corner of the net.
Whitecaps FC 2 went up 2-1 minutes after halftime when Bustos converted a penalty kick following a Schweitzer foul in the 18-yard-box. Moments later, midfielder Zach Mathers was issued a red card in the 51
st
minute, forcing S2 to play the remaining 39 minutes with 10 men.
Schweitzer completed his brace and secured a point for the visiting side in the 81
st
minute, extending S2's unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1). Victor Mansaray played a ball in from the left side to a streaking Schweitzer in the center of the 18-yard-box for a header into the top right corner, forcing the 2-2 final scoreline.
Just one point below the postseason cutoff line with three matches remaining in the 2016 USL campaign, S2 continues its four-match road swing to conclude the season next Sunday at OKC Energy FC (4:00 p.m. PT / Live-streamed on SoundersFC.com). The Rave Green finish the season on the following two Saturdays, first facing off with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on September 17 before the season finale at Swope Park Rangers on September 24.
