The U.S. are fourth with nine points in the Hexagonal, the final round of CONCACAF qualifying. The top three teams automatically qualify for Russia. The fourth-place team will compete in a home-and-home playoff with the fifth place team from the Asian Confederation, which will either be Syria or Australia.

Uruguay are second in CONMEBOL qualifying, and one win in their final two matches would guarantee their ticket to Russia. The top four teams automatically qualify for the World Cup. The fifth-place team will compete in a home-and-home playoff with the winner of the Oceania Confederation, which will either be New Zealand or the Solomon Islands.
SWEDEN — Gustav Svensson
Aug. 31 — Lost 3-2 at Bulgaria

Svensson earned his first call-up since January 2016 and helped lead Sweden to a crucial three points on the road at Belarus after dropping points at Bulgaria. Sweden are in second place in Group A of UEFA qualifying, one point behind group-leader France and three ahead of the Netherlands. The top team in each of the nine groups of six automatically qualifies for Russia. The top eight second-place finishers will compete in a home-and-home series to determine the final four UEFA spots.
