Midfielder Albert Rusnák has been named Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday for Matchday 31 following his performance in the Sounders’ 4-0 victory over Columbus Crew on Sept. 7.
Rusnák scored his first-ever career hat trick on Saturday evening, bringing his scoring record to 8 this season.
Just before the end of the first half, Rusnák rocketed a free kick from the top of the box into the left corner of the goal to give the Sounders the 1-0 lead. Then in the 67th minute, the Slovakian international extended the score to three goals, with a hard, driven shot from distance. He closed out the night with a one-time finish a few minutes later off a Jordan Morris cross from the left flank.
Rusnák finished the match with a shooting accuracy rate of 100 percent, along with five chances created, three recoveries and one interception.
The Sounders return to action on Sept. 15 when they host Sporting Kansas City (4:15 p.m. PT; Watch FREE on Apple TV | TICKETS) at Lumen Field.
