MLS ALL-STAR: Prior to Saturday’s match, midfielder Obed Vargas will compete with the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday in Austin, Texas, after he was selected by Manager Nico Estévez. SOUNDERS CONNECTIONS: Former Sounders Sporting Director Chris Henderson is in his first season as Atlanta’s Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director after four years in the front office with Inter Miami. Former Sounders General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey is Atlanta’s President & CEO but has recently stepped aside while he undergoes cancer treatment.

NEW MAN IN CHARGE: Atlanta United hired Ronny Deila as its head coach this past offseason. The 49-year-old Norwegian guided New York City FC to MLS Cup in 2021 and was most recently managing Al-Wahda in the United Arab Emirates.
SHIPPING GOALS: Atlanta features one of the leakiest defenses in the league, having conceded 43 goals, the fourth-most in MLS.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Emmanuel Latte Lath, F
Atlanta made MLS headlines this past offseason when they purchased Latte Lath from English Championship side Middlesbrough for a league-record $22M plus add-ons. The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international has taken a bit of time to adjust to MLS, though, recording seven goals in just over 1,700 minutes so far.
