2025 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 10-6-7 (37 points, 4th West), Atlanta: 4-11-8 (20 points, 13thEast)

FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): Seattle: WDWDW, Atlanta: LDDDL

PREVIOUS MEETING: Atlanta United defeated the Sounders 2-0 at Lumen Field on Aug. 20, 2023, behind a brace from Giorgos Giakoumakis.

DIFFERENT TRAJECTORIES: The Sounders are unbeaten in five matches (3-0-2) since returning from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, while Atlanta is winless in its last seven contests (0-4-3).

DE LA VEGA IMPRESSES ON LEFT WING: Earning a start last weekend in his more natural position at left wing, Designated Player Pedro de la Vega had his best match of his Sounders tenure, recording an assist to Danny Musovski before scoring a golazo for the match-winner.

MUSOVSKI RESURGENCE CONTINUES: Musovski is in the middle of a career year, scoring eight goals including a brace last weekend en route to an MLS Team of the Matchday honor. He will likely get the start up front again as Jordan Morris undergoes surgery on his AC joint in his shoulder.

MLS ALL-STAR: Prior to Saturday’s match, midfielder Obed Vargas will compete with the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday in Austin, Texas, after he was selected by Manager Nico Estévez. The 19-year-old Mexican international is the Sounders’ lone representation at the All-Star Game and is considered one of the most exciting teenagers in the league.

SOUNDERS CONNECTIONS: Former Sounders Sporting Director Chris Henderson is in his first season as Atlanta’s Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director after four years in the front office with Inter Miami. Former Sounders General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey is Atlanta’s President & CEO but has recently stepped aside while he undergoes cancer treatment.

“Today our thoughts are with our friend and former colleague Garth Lagerwey following the recent news of his cancer diagnosis,” the Sounders said in a statement. “We send our support to Garth and his family during this challenging time, along with our peers at Atlanta United. Garth played an integral role in our club’s story, but more importantly than that, he’s a thoughtful person that leads with integrity and care for others. We know that Garth is approaching this battle with the same strength and determination that define his contributions to our game. On behalf of the entire Sounders community, we wish Garth a swift and thorough recovery.”

NEW MAN IN CHARGE: Atlanta United hired Ronny Deila as its head coach this past offseason. The 49-year-old Norwegian guided New York City FC to MLS Cup in 2021 and was most recently managing Al-Wahda in the United Arab Emirates.

SHIPPING GOALS: Atlanta features one of the leakiest defenses in the league, having conceded 43 goals, the fourth-most in MLS.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Emmanuel Latte Lath, F

Atlanta made MLS headlines this past offseason when they purchased Latte Lath from English Championship side Middlesbrough for a league-record $22M plus add-ons. The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international has taken a bit of time to adjust to MLS, though, recording seven goals in just over 1,700 minutes so far.
