Captain's Notes: 5/27/15 vs Colorado Rapids -

Less than a week after returning to CenturyLink Field, Seattle Sounders FC takes on another Western Conference opponent as Colorado Rapids come into town for the second meeting between the teams this season. Brad Evans looks back at the matchup against SKC and talks about the team's preparations for the midweek match in his Captain's Notes.

The biggest thing for us is to recognize that if we win this game, we will continue to move up in the standings. That’s something we talked about as a team before the season started. We want to make a run at all the trophies that we can and we want to put ourselves in a good position for Supporters' Shield. We know that it’s early in the season, it’s a young season, but at the same time it’s always nice to have something to strive for.
In this game, we have to get back on the scoring sheet and keep it to zero in the back. We have to remember we have a chance to jump up in the standings if we win this game.
MATCHDAY: 2015 MLS - Sounders FC vs Colorado Rapids
It was an amazing crowd this past weekend, we can never say enough. We were playing a depleted Kansas City team that we expected to come out and maybe sit back, but not to the extent that they did. They were banking on a few counterattacks from us and the possession was definitely in our favor. There were a few turnovers and some chances but in saying that, we were in control of the game. We just couldn’t break their block of eight or nine guys they had behind the ball at any given time.
We went back to the drawing board this week as we prepared for Colorado. They are a team that historically makes a few changes when they travel so we’ll see what they bring but we expect them to use a similar formation as Kansas City and maybe they’ll sit with guys behind the ball. We’ve gone over how we can break that down and get goals at home.
We know that away teams are aware they are coming into a difficult place to play when they come to CenturyLink Field and more often than not, they’re going to sit back. We have to find a way around it.
We expect another great crowd and we have to get off to the right start in this game. If we can get one early, we will put ourselves in a good position going forward. We have another game at home this weekend, but we’re not looking beyond this one.
In saying that, let’s get back on the scoring sheet, keep it to zero and let’s get this win, Sounders!
