Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 4 following his dominant performance in the club's 1-1 away draw against Austin FC on Sunday.
Serving as the team captain in the absences of Nicolás Lodeiro and Stefan Frei, Roldan maintained his red-hot form to start the season with another impressive outing against Austin FC. Roldan supplied the assist on opening goal in the first half, making a clever run behind the hosts' back line and picking out the run of Will Bruin for a close-range finish. The Sounders midfielder also posted two tackles, two key passes, an interception and three blocks.
Roldan, who now heads to camp with the United States Men's National Team ahead of a series of crucial FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches, has been one of the league's top performers this season. From eight matches across all competitions, the 26-year-old midfielder has posted six assists and earned two penalty kicks.
