SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC defender Damion Lowe and forward Oalex Anderson have been called into their respective U-23 national teams for a round of qualifying ahead of the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship. Lowe joins the Jamaican U-23s and Anderson the St. Vincent U-23 side in preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
Both Jamaica and St. Vincent face their opponents on August 14, with Lowe and Jamaica set to play Cuba, while Anderson and St. Vincent play host-nation Haiti. Both matches are being played at Stade Sylvio Cator located in Haitian capital Port-au-Prince.
Winners of each match automatically qualify for the two Caribbean Zone spots in the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship and will face-off for the top seed on August 16 at Stade Sylvio Cator. At the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship, the two Caribbean sides have the opportunity to face the United States, Mexico and Canada, as well as the three qualifiers from the Central America Zone for advancement to the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
Lowe, 22, has made 11 appearances at centerback for S2 in 2015, recording a goal and an assist in 990 minutes of action. The 2014 Sounders FC First Round SuperDraft pick has twice been named a USL Team of the Week selection.
Anderson, 19, has made 10 appearances for the Rave Green, scoring four goals in 373 minutes. He has three goals for St. Vincent in the tournament to this point, including an 80th-minute equalizer against Puerto Rico that secured a berth in the final round of qualifying.
Both Lowe and Anderson are available for S2’s weekend match against defending USL Champion Sacramento Republic FC, with Anderson also available for the August 8 match when S2 hosts Whitecaps FC 2 for the final time in 2015 (7:30 p.m. PT / SoundersFC.com).
