Danny Musovski finds form with standout offensive display in last three matches

It is safe to say, the Moose is Loose.

Following the Sounders’ 1-1 road draw against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, forward Danny Musovski has now scored a goal in three consecutive matches.

“Danny is a talented forward,” said defender Alex Roldan. “He's a poacher.”

The 29-year-old is extremely clever in and around the six-yard box as he makes hard runs past defenders or looks to capitalize on rebounds and mis-clearances. All three of his recent goal contributions demonstrate just how lethal he is when he’s inside the penalty area.

Midfielder Obed Vargas described him as a “Fox in the box.”

“[Musovski] just scores goals at the right place at the right time,” he said. “He listens to the coach. Coach tells him, go front post. He goes to the front post. He gets his goals.”

The Henderson, Nev. native has had to bide his time since joining the Sounders. But his hard work has paid off, and he’s been able to make the most of his chance to lead the line with Jordan Morris recovering from injuries.

“With Jordan being out, it's given me an opportunity, and I just want to fill his shoes as best I can,” said Musovski. “So I feel like I've done a pretty good job doing that.”

Seattle has picked up seven points with Musovski starting at the nine. In his three consecutive starts, he collected the game-winner against FC Dallas, the opening goal vs. Nashville SC, and most recently, a one-time finish in Colorado to secure a road point.

He said that it is the effort and focus he puts into training that leaves him prepared to make an impact when he’s called upon.

“I feel like, if I do that, then when I sub into the games, that it's a whole lot easier,” said Musovski. “And just stay positive. It's not always easy. You just gotta keep your head up, keep going. And if I get the minutes, I always feel confident I'll score the goals.”

Beyond collecting goals, his significance on the pitch extends to retaining possession in high-pressure moments in the attack.

“I'd like to credit his hold up play,” said Roldan. “He's done well in terms of holding up the ball back to goal. And so, you know, hopefully he keeps this momentum going as we'll need him in the next stretch of games.”
