Sounders FC forward Danny Musovski can’t stop scoring.
During the team’s 4-0 road win over LA Galaxy on Aug. 10, the Henderson, Nevada native tallied a brace, marking his 11th and 12th goals of the season.
In the 37th and 54th minutes of the match, Musovski found himself in front of goal following two initial saves from Galaxy goalkeeper Novak Mićović. He took advantage of both opportunities, composing two close-range finishes off the rebound to help put the Sounders on top.
“It felt really good to score,” said Musovski. “For me as a forward, it is just [about] trying to get some free space in the box and kind of anticipating where the ball will go.”
Someone who was once regularly utilized as a substitute for the Rave Green is now tied for most goals on the squad across all-competitions this season with Designated Player Albert Rusnák.
Of the 26 goals the team has recorded in the last eight matches, Musovski has scored five of them. He credits the team’s current confidence and work ethic as contributors to his own run of form.
“I think right now I'm finding myself in some really good spots and I think it also helps when the team is executing all over the field,” said Musovski. “And then I just think a big part of it's just holding a very high standard in training. Trainings are very high level, very sharp, and I feel like that just translates well in the games, and we're able to stay on top of teams.”
He finds that it’s been his physical condition and overall well-being this season, however, that has made the ultimate difference in his game. Last year, the forward struggled with lingering injuries, preventing him from playing up to his potential. From scoring only two goals in 2024, to now setting a single-season high scoring mark for his career across MLS and USL, Musovski has made a complete 180 as it relates to his impact on the pitch.
“As a pro, there's always ups and downs. Some years, you have better opportunities than other years. But for me, I think the main thing is, this year, I've just been able to stay healthy the entire season,” said Musovski.
“And as a forward, momentum is huge,” he continued. “When you're not scoring it, I feel like it's a little bit harder to get that first one. But once you get rolling and once you get a little bit of confidence, it helps you going into every single game.”
Last season, Jordan Morris became the club’s starting striker and led the team with 17 goals across all competitions, accounting for 30 percent of the Sounders’ overall scoring output. With Morris missing most of the 2025 season due to various injuries, Musovski has been called upon to help fill the void in offensive production. He’s achieved exactly that, emulating the “next man up” philosophy that Head Coach Brian Schmetzer always preaches.
“You can never go from one end of an MLS season to the other without adversity, injuries… Things happen,” said Schmetzer. “You must have in your pipeline, on your bench, guys that can come in and do the business, and we have them now.”
