RENTON, WASH. – Sounders FC players Dejan Joveljić and Snyder Brunell have been called into international duty for the upcoming FIFA window. Joveljić reports to the Serbian National Team for the first four matches in 2026-2027 UEFA Nations League play, while Brunell joins the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team for camp in Spain and a pair of friendlies against Denmark and Brazil. This marks Joveljić’s first callup since joining Seattle via transfer from Sporting Kansas City last month, as well as Brunell’s first nod for the U.S. at the U-20 level.
Joveljić, 27, has nine international caps for Serbia, with his two goals for the senior squad coming in a friendly against Jordan on June 16, 2023. The forward previously appeared in two in UEFA European Qualifiers in 2023 and one Nations League match in 2024, following a standout career in the Serbian youth international ranks. Orlovi has been placed in Group A2 in the 2026-2027 UEFA Nations League and begins Group Stage play against Greece on September 24 (11:45 a.m. PT), Netherlands on September 27 (9:00 a.m. PT / FS2), Germany on October 1 (11:45 a.m. PT) and Netherlands again on October 4 (11:45 a.m. PT). Joveljić has started all four of his appearances for Seattle this year and has scored three goals, including a brace in his debut against Chicago Fire FC on August 29.
Brunell, 19, joins the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team for a camp San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain from September 27-October 5, with friendlies scheduled against Brazil on October 1 and Denmark on October 4. The midfielder last joined the U-19s in May for a camp at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer Training Center in Fayetteville, Georgia. Brunell has also played for the U-18s in the UEFA Friendship Cup in Nyon, Switzerland, helping the Stars and Stripes win the title in a shootout victory over Portugal. Brunell has 29 appearances (21 starts) for Seattle this year in all competitions, tallying two assists.
Following a 3-3 road draw with the Colorado Rapids on Sunday, Sounders FC hosts Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, September 23 (6:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) and Minnesota United FC on Saturday, September 26 (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, iHeartMedia Seattle, El Rey 1360 AM) on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field.
