ESPN favors Seattle Sounders over Sporting Kansas City in Knockout Round

The Seattle Sounders will host Sporting Kansas City on Thursday at CenturyLink Field (7 p.m. PT; FS1, UniMas, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM) in the Knockout Round of the 2016 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, and have a 65 percent chance of winning, according to ESPN’s Paul Carr.

All four home teams in the Western and Eastern Conferences are predicted to advance, with the LA Galaxy favored the most at 70 percent in their match with Real Salt Lake. ESPN also gives the Sounders a seven percent chance to win MLS Cup. The New York Red Bulls are the favorite at 20 percent.

Seattle wrapped up the right to host the Knockout Round after a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Decision Day, a match which ensured its eighth consecutive playoff berth. The Sounders are 6-3-3 all-time at home in the postseason, including a 2-0 record in the Knockout Round (2013 vs. Colorado and 2015 vs. LA).
