Instant Replay: MLSSoccer.com breaks down two controversial calls in NYCvSEA

Villa vs. Svensson 2017-06-20

In a 2-1 loss to New York City FC on a flooding Yankee Stadium pitch last Saturday, the Seattle Sounders conceded an equalizer in the 52nd minute after forward David Villa drew a penalty kick on Oniel Fisher.

Earlier in the match, it appeared Sounders defender Joevin Jones could have also been whistled for a penalty in the box on Jack Harrison, but referee Robert Sibiga let play continue.

In this week’s Instant Replay (start at 1:28), MLSSoccer.com’s Simon Borg breaks down both instances and whether or not the referee made the correct calls.
