Following the team’s 2-0 win over Austin FC at Lumen Field on Saturday night, Seattle Sounders forward Jesús Ferreira was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 21.
This is Ferreira's third time being selected for the league’s weekly honors this season.
Ferreira opened the scoring for the Rave Green in the final moments of the first half when a floating ball from Paul Rothrock found the forward wide open on the backpost. From there, the first-year Sounder executed a powerful volley into the back of the net to give his team the lead.
Then, in the 54th minute, Ferreira contributed to the Sounders' second goal of the night with a driven pass forward to Danny Musovski, who managed to dribble by Austin center back Oleksandr Svatok and place the ball perfectly into the left corner of the goal to extend the lead to two.
Ferreira now has a total of two goals and six assists in 2025 MLS Regular Season competition.
The Sounders return to action on Sunday July 6 when they host Columbus Crew at Lumen Field (2 p.m. PT; MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
