Jordan Morris’ goal leads United States past Jamaica in friendly

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris scored a second-half goal to give the United States men’s national team a 1-0 win over Jamaica in a friendly on Friday in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Morris started and gave the U.S. the breakthrough in the 59th minute. Dax McCarty picked out Benny Feilhaber, who combined well with Morris and sprung him through on net. The goal is Morris’ second in his U.S. career in his 14th cap.

Morris came on in the 74th minute in the U.S.’ scoreless friendly draw with Serbia last Sunday.

Sounders defender Brad Evans entered in the 68th minute on Friday and earned his 27th cap. He did not play last Sunday.

Chad Marshall did not play on Friday after starting and going the full 90 minutes against Serbia, as head coach Bruce Arena made nine changes to his Starting XI.

Oniel Fisher started on defense for Jamaica and earned his second cap and first since 2010.

The win over Jamaica was the United States’ final tune-up match before CONCACAF 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying resumes in March. The U.S. currently sit in last place with zero points in the Hexagonal after dropping their first two matches. They will host Honduras on March 24 in San Jose, Calif., before a road contest against Panama on March 28.
