Jordan Morris scores, but Seattle Sounders fall 3-1 at Colorado Rapids

The Seattle Sounders fell 3-1 to the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., on Sunday.


Andre Shinyashiki opened the scoring for Colorado in the 11th minute off a header from a cross from Sam Vines. Jordan Morris equalized in the 22nd minute on a feed from Cristian Roldan, but the Rapids retook the lead in the 42nd minute on a volley from Keegan Rosenberry from the top of the box.


Colorado capped its win in the 75th minute when Cole Bassett converted a header off a free kick from Jack Price.


The Sounders play their penultimate match of the regular season on Wednesday at the LA Galaxy (8 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, UniMás, Twitter, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Morris found the back of the net for the first time in five matches, a great sign for Seattle as it heads toward the postseason. The 26-year-old Homegrown now has nine goals and seven assists on the season.


SMITH RETURNS


Defender Brad Smith made his return to action after missing the last three matches with an injury. He came on as a second-half substitute for Gustav Svensson and played up a line at left wing.


THREE-MATCH WEEK


After the Sounders head to Los Angeles for their tilt with the Galaxy on Wednesday, Seattle will return to CenturyLink Field next Sunday for Decision Day (3:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). The Sounders have already locked up a playoff spot for their record 12th consecutive time.
