The boys are back!
On this week’s episode of Winging it with Zak and Brad, hosts and club legends Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans are accompanied by Sounders FC right back Kelvin Leerdam, discussing the Dutch defender’s career, the history of soccer in the Netherlands and the MLS is Back Tournament.
With a return to play looming over the horizon, Leerdam is ecstatic about the team’s opportunity to compete in Orlando, Fla., but the COVID-19 pandemic has given him a new perspective on life and soccer.
“Knowing the guys we have in our team, when we start playing games the only thing that counts is winning,” said Leerdam. “But after the last couple of months, us as players and human beings have learned that you need to be very happy with the people around you. Enjoy your family. I feel like that is a very strong feeling in the group right now. Football has to be extra in your life because in times like this, you get to know the people around you better.”
After the interview with Leerdam, Zak and Brad share their thoughts on Seattle’s group for the MLS is Back Tournament and reflect on the career of Harry Shipp following his retirement this week.
