Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei to the Week 5 Team of the Week for his efforts in a scoreless draw at the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.
Frei made three saves, including two clutch ones toward the end of the match to keep the Sounders undefeated in four matches to start 2019. His biggest one came in stoppage time on JoaquÃn Ardaiz from close range. He dove to his right to parry it away before Kim Kee-hee deflected another good opportunity from Inbeom Hwang.
The Sounders return to CenturyLink Field on Saturday against Real Salt Lake (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS).
