MATCH RECAP: S2 falls 3-0 on the road at OKC Energy FC

Shandon Hopeau 8-25-18

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. – Sounders FC 2 (5-16-2, 17 points) on Saturday fell 3-0 on the road to OKC Energy FC (10-12-5, 35 points). The teams split the season series, as S2 defeated Energy FC at home in Tacoma on June 10, 2-1.

Energy FC took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Christian Volesky put the home side ahead in the 28th minute. He headed home a corner kick from Jose Barril, which found its way past S2 goalkeeper Calle Brown. Barril earned two assists on the night, his eighth and ninth of the season, which set a new club record.

Adam Jahn made it 2-0 for OKC when he put home a free ball in the area in the 56th minute. Marco Bustos scored the third goal of the night for the home side in the 78th minute, just one minute after coming on for Volesky.

S2 returns home to Cheney Stadium in Tacoma this week for three games in eight days. Seattle is 5-6-0 in front of the home crowd this season, and has won two consecutive games at Cheney. The three-game home stretch is the longest of the season for S2.

Sounders FC 2 takes on Saint Louis FC this Wednesday, August 29 in Tacoma. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT, and the match will be live-streamed on ESPN+.
