MATCH RECAP: S2 runs home unbeaten streak to four with 1-1 draw against Orange County SC

Jesse Daley 9-2-18

TACOMA, WASH. – Sounders FC 2 (5-16-4, 19 points) on Sunday played to a 1-1 draw with Orange County SC (15-7-5, 51 points) at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. S2 is now unbeaten in its last four home games, and has earned 17 of its 19 points in front of the home crowd this season.

Jesse Daley gave S2 an early 1-0 lead with a rocket from the top of the box. Azriel Gonzalez began the play by blasting a shot that was saved by Orange County goalkeeper Andre Rawls, and the rebound bounced to Daley. He settled it and unleashed a shot with his left foot into the top left corner of the goal in the 12th minute. The tally was Daley’s second of the season.

Alex Crognale’s fourth goal of the season in the 57th minute evened the match at 1-1. Aodhan Quinn served a corner right in front of the goal and Crognale headed it home past S2 keeper Bryan Meredith.

S2 saw appearances from four First Team players in Bryan Meredith, Lamar Neagle, Alex Roldan and Henry Wingo. Seattle also played two Academy players in Khai Brisco and Leo Burney.

Sounders FC 2 returns to action on Wednesday, September 5 against Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Cheney Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+). The match is the third of three home games in eight days.
