All-Time Series: Seattle is 4-2-2 all-time against D.C. in MLS play and 5-2-2 overall, including a victory in the 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final – the first of three straight Open Cup titles for Sounders FC.  Seattle holds a 14-9 scoring edge in the eight MLS meetings.

Key Player: Forward Eddie Johnson has just one goal and one assist in 12 matches with D.C. United, but will undoubtedly be a motivated individual as he faces Sounders FC for the first time.  In two seasons in Rave Green, Johnson scored 23 goals, leading the club with 14 in his first season in 2012 and again with nine goals in 2013.


Notes: Sounders FC is playing without Clint Dempsey and DeAndre Yedlin as they both continue at the World Cup with the U.S. National Team.  After posting a 1-1-1 record in the Group Stage, the U.S. advances to face Belgium on Tuesday in the Round of 16. … Seattle also won’t have Obafemi Martins while the forward serves a red card suspension.  D.C. will be without two key players for disciplinary reasons, as Fabian Espindola is serving a two-match suspension and Davy Arnaud is out on yellow card accumulation. … Sounders FC is 3-1-1 all-time at RFK Stadium across all competitions. … D.C. has three former Sounders on the roster in Johnson, Parke and Alex Caskey, as well as former USL Sounders goalkeeper Preston Burpo on the coaching staff. … D.C. lost its season opener at home, 3-0 to the Columbus Crew, but hasn’t lost a home match since, going 5-0-3 with a 13-4 scoring edge at RFK.
