Houston’s Record: Houston is 6-11-4 for 22 points, ranking eighth in the Eastern Conference.


Head-To-Head: This is the only meeting of the season between the Dynamo and Sounders FC.


All-Time Series: In eight all-time meetings in MLS play, Seattle and Houston are even at 3-3-2.  Including MLS Cup playoffs and the U.S. Open Cup, they are 4-4-3, with both the U.S. Open Cup semifinal and Western Conference Semifinal in 2009 requiring overtime to determine a winner.

Key Player: Midfielder Brad Davis is 32 years old and earned his way onto his first World Cup squad this year for the U.S. in Brazil.  He has 51 goals and 106 assists in his 13 MLS seasons, and from 2009-2012 the St. Louis product recorded 12 or more assists each season, including 16 in 2011.  This year, he has four goals and five assists in just 12 matches, including three goals in four matches since returning from the World Cup.  In eight career matches against Seattle, he has one goal and six assists, tied for the most against Seattle with Landon Donovan.


Notes: Sounders FC Head Coach Sigi Schmid has 199 career MLS victories, one away from becoming the first MLS coach to reach the 200-win milestone. … The Dynamo recently added a pair of World Cup players in U.S. defender DaMarcus Beasley and Honduras midfielder Luis Garrido.  The two made their debut in Houston’s last match, a 1-0 win over D.C. United. … Seattle’s 12-6-2 record is its best record through 20 matches in club history. … Sounders FC’s current two-game losing streak is its first consecutive losses of the season. … Houston’s victory over D.C. United was the club’s first since May 17.  It went 0-6-2 in that winless run and had a scoreless streak of 480 minutes. … Kenny Cooper has six goals in 16 career matches against Houston. … Sunday’s match will feature CenturyLink Field’s stands open to full capacity for the third time this season.  Seattle topped the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 and the Portland Timbers 2-0 in the first two matches and is now 10-0-3 when the CenturyLink Field crowd exceeds 40,000.
