Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders forward Raúl Ruidíaz to the Week 29 Team of the Week for his efforts in a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place. MLS also named goalkeeper Stefan Frei and defender Kelvin Leerdam to the Team of the Week bench.
Ruidíaz recorded his first Sounders brace, striking twice in the first half to help extend the Sounders’ MLS-record winning streak to nine matches. Frei finished with four saves, while Leerdam and the back line ended the weekend with still the best defense in MLS.
The Sounders get right back to action on Wednesday when they host the Philadelphia Union (8 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS).
