Major League Soccer on Tuesday named Seattle Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso and defender Brad Smith to the Week 27 MLS Team of the Week for their efforts in a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City.
Alonso and Smith each picked up an assist on Raúl RuidÃaz’s opening goal and were effective all match long in the middle and left side of the pitch, respectively. Alonso finished with 89 percent passing and a team-high four tackles, while Smith was second on the team with 62 touches.
The Sounders are off this weekend for the international break, but return to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 in a massive Cascadia clash at the rival Vancouver Whitecaps (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
