Following the team’s 1-0 win over the Portland Timbers at Lumen Field on Saturday night, Seattle Sounders winger Pedro de la Vega was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 38.
de la Vega was selected for the TOTM bench after supporting the Sounders with the game-winning goal in a crucial win against their Cascadia Rivals.
In the 16th minute, defender Alex Roldan laid a perfect ball back to de la Vega near the top of the six, where he rocketed the ball first-time to give the team the early lead. The Argentine made the most of his 65 minutes on the pitch, with his contributions extending to defense as well. He finished the night with two tackles, one interception, three recoveries and five duels won.
de la Vega now stands with four goals and four assists in league play this year.
The Sounders return to action on Saturday when they host Real Salt Lake in their final home match of the regular season on Saturday evening (6:30 p.m. PT; MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
