Preseason Friendlies: Recap vs. IFK Norrköping, Hammarby

The Seattle Sounders closed out its time in Spain with matches against Swedish sides IFK Norrköping and Hammarby IF. Each match featured a different lineup.

Sounders FC tied with IFK Norrköping in the first match 3-3, featuring goals from Paul Rothrock, João Paulo and Travian Sousa, with Jesús Ferreira and Alex Roldan scoring in the second match.

MATCH SUMMARY VS IFK NORRÖKPING

1’ And we are UNDERWAY in our first friendly of the day, taking on Swedish side IFK Norrköping.

2’ CHANCE! Pedro picks up right where he’s left off this preseason, finding space on the left side of the box for a shot that is parried away by the keeper.

12’ Goal for Norrköping as Christoffer Nyman finds the back of the net.

21’ GOALLLLLLL!!!!! Danny Musovski finds himself with the ball streaking into the right side of the box and lofts a lovely cross to Paul Rothrock, who smashes it home to level this game at 1-1!

26’ The Swedish side finds another goal with Nyman getting his second of the match.

29’ GOALLLL! We answer right back courtesy of the bearded João Paulo! We have a shootout with the score knotted at 2-2 with 30 minutes gone.

33’ Norrköping gets its third goal after capitalizing on a turnover, with Nyman completing the hat trick.

33’ Travian Sousa replaces Paul Rothrock.

38’ Some good activity by us inside our opponent’s area, which ends with a shot by Kalani that is saved by the keeper.

45’ And that’s halftime of our first match, we trail 3-2.

46’ The teams switch sides as we resume play for the second half!

52’ CHANCE! Pedro finds himself in front of goal with a couple of chances, but can’t find the back of the net as Norrköping’s defense holds strong.

54’ ANOTHER CHANCE! It’s Pedro again, who lines up a shot from outside the area and puts in a curling effort that forces a nice save by the keeper.

55’ GOALLLLLL! It’s Travian Sousa with the strike as he finds himself with space in behind the defense, with a peach of a ball delivered by Josh Atencio. Sousa took a couple of touches before converting the easy finish.

68’ CHANCE! Multiple players have a chance on goal, but the Norrköping keeper makes a great save again to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

70’ Andrew Thomas made a series of great saves from close range to keep this one level at 3-3!

75’ Osaze De Rosario replaces Danny Musovski!

82’ A double change for us as Ryan Baer replaces Snyder Brunell and Sebastian Gomez replaces Pedro!

88’ CHANCE! Osaze takes a shot from just outside the area that takes a deflection and hits off the crossbar!

90’ And that’s full time from our first match of the day, with the match ending in a 3-3 draw. Our goals scored were by Paul Rothrock, João Paulo and Travian Sousa!

1’ And we are underway for our second match of the day versus Swedish side Hammary IF

7’ CHANCE! The best chance from either side so far comes from Jordan Morris, who finds himself 1v1 with a defender after a great ball by Jesús. He is able to get a shot off with his right foot but it sails over the crossbar.

10’ A chance for Hammarby early, but the ball is shot right into the hands of Stefan Frei!

20’ A yellow card is shown to Jackson Ragen.

21’ MULTIPLE CHANCES! Jordan and Jesús catch Hammarby in transition, but Jordan can’t quite connect the final pass. Paul Arriola tracks down the loose ball that leads to shots by Jesús and Cristian, but both are blocked.

24’ A yellow card is shown to Hammarby’s Jonathan Karlsson.

33’ Georgi Minoungou replaces Albert!

37’ CHANCE! Jordan gets his head on a great cross, but sends it just over the crossbar.

41’ GOALLLLLLL! Jesús gets his second of the preseason! Jordan taps a ball forward inside the area to an unmarked Jesús, who converts the easy finish!

45’ GOALLLLL!!!!! This time Georgi beats his defender and sends in a low cross into the area for a waiting Alex Roldan, who slams it home!

45’ Halftime here at our second match where we lead 2-0!

46’ And we are back for the second half! Cody Baker replaces Jesús!

47’ CHANCE! A couple of good chances for Paul Arriola and Obed but can’t quite find the back of the net as Paul’s shot goes high and Obed’s is narrowly saved by the keeper.

60’ Hammarby pulls one back coutsey of Abdelrahman Boudah.

69’ CHANCE! Paul Arriola gets a good look at goal but the shot is blocked at the last minute.

73’ A yellow card is shown to Nouhou.

74’ A yellow card is shown to Abdelrahman Boudah

82’ Pretty even back and forth action at this point, with no clear chances for either side in the last five minutes or so.

89’ Hammarby levels the the match late as Simon Strand finds the back of the net.

90’ That’s full time as we draw 2-2 with Hammary IF! And that concludes are preseason camp here in Marbella!
