The Seattle Sounders squared off with Brøndby IF in Quinta do Lago, Portugal in a closed-doors preseason friendly. The Danish club picked up a 2-0 win, with the Rave Green fielding two different lineups in each half as the team ramps up their physical conditioning.
Sounders FC’s next preseason fixture will come against Swedish club Hammarby on February 5 in Marbella Spain.

We start with a lineup of Andrew Thomas, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi, Yeimar, Antino Lopez, Reed Baker-Whiting, Nikola Petković, Cristian Roldan, Sebastian Gomez, Albert Rusnák, Peter Kingston and Osaze De Rosario. Max Anchor, Cody Baker, Joe Dale and Yu Tsukanome are available off the bench.
8’ Thomas makes a great one-on-one save to keep this match scoreless early!
18’ CHANCE! Baker-Whiting gets a good look at the goal, but his shot is parried away by the Brøndby keeper! We are still level at 0-0.
20’ We are getting some good spells of possession on the attacking end of the field, with Sebastian sending in a quality cross that De Rosario can’t quite get on the end of. Reed fires another cross in that can’t find a Sounders player.
26’ De Rosario makes a good run in behind, but the keeper comes out in time to catch the ball and stop the danger.
29’ Brøndby get on the board first with a goal by Benjamin Tahirovic.
33’ Another good save by Thomas! Yeimar then draws a foul to end the attack.
35’ De Rosario draws a foul right outside the area, but Rusnák’s ensuing free kick is blocked by Brøndby’s wall.
42’ Petković sends in a low cross that almost finds De Rosario but is grabbed by the keeper coming off his line.
45’ That’s the end of the first half with Brøndby leading 1-0.
46’ We swap out our entire lineup for the second half – Stefan Frei, Alex Roldan, Gallatin Sandnes, Jackson Ragen, Paul Rothrock, Snyder Brunell, Hassani Dotson, Jordan Morris, Georgi Minoungou, Jesús Ferreira and Danny Musovski all take the field!
59’ Ferreira takes a free kick just outside the area following a Brøndby foul, but sent it low and wide left of the goal.
64’ CHANCE! Dotson slides a nice ball through to Musovski, but his shot is blocked!
64’ A dangerous ball from Ferreira crosses the face of goal and goes out for a corner, but nothing comes from it.
68’ A goal by Brøndby is called back for a foul, it remains 1-0 in favor of the Danish side.
71’ CHANCE! The best chance of the day comes from Musovski, who redirects a cross inside the box with a cheeky backheel flip that just kisses off the post and stays out.
72’ The chances are coming fast and furious now, with Brunell trying a shot from just outside the area that goes over the crossbar.
79’ Minoungou is getting a lot of action on the right-hand side of the field, serving in several crosses in that are sniffed out by the defense.
83’ And Minoungou gets his best cross in just a few minutes later! He dribbles past the last defender and firing a pass in front of goal that can’t find the foot of a Salish shirt.
90+1’ Brøndby earn a penalty kick after a foul in the area, which Marko Dikovic converts for a 2-0 lead.
