Seattle Sounders defender Roman Torres activated off disabled list

Nearly a year removed from a devastating ACL injury that ended his inaugural Seattle Sounders season just four games in, Roman Torres is finally back.

The 30-year-old Panamanian international is healthy and was activated from the Seattle Sounders disabled list on Tuesday. He was injured in a match against the San Jose Earthquakes on Sept. 12, 2015, one month to the date after signing from Colombian side Millonarios.

Torres started full training on Aug. 1 and has been working his way back to match fitness since. He traveled with the team to Houston on Monday and will be available for selection when the Sounders take on the Dynamo on Wednesday night (6 p.m. PT; JOEtv, ROOT Sports, El Rey 1360AM, 770 KTTH).

Torres joined the Sounders last year following 11 professional seasons in the top flights of South and Central America, including nine campaigns and three championships in Liga Àguila, Colombia’s top division. The Panamanian national team captain has 81 career international caps and led Panama to a third-place finish at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
