Seattle Sounders FC 2 (3-2-0, 9 points) lost to Oklahoma City Energy FC (2-0-1, 7 points) by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday evening, marking the end of the Rave Green’s two-match road trip to the state of Oklahoma. Darwin Jones scored for S2 in the 33rd minute, but it was a late strike from Dani König in the 86th minute that provided victory for the home side.

After a delayed kickoff due to lightning storms in the area of Taft Stadium, the teams began play 45 minutes after the originally scheduled kickoff time. Jones started the scoring in the 33rd minute after an Andy Craven shot was deflected by Energy FC goalkeeper Evan Newton, falling to the feet of the Seattle Homegrown Player, who blasted a shot into the open net.

Oklahoma City’s Chuy Sanchez equalized five minutes later in the 38th minute, finding the back of the net after receiving a well-threaded through ball from the center of the pitch from König.

Energy FC had a chance to go ahead right before halftime with a penalty chance after Amadou Sanyang held König in the box, but Michael Thomas’ shot bounced off the post and out of play.

König found the game-winner in the 86th minute after a low cross went uncontested into the middle of the area. König found himself with only S2 goalkeeper Charlie Lyon to beat, and he scored with his first touch.

It is the second loss in a row for the Rave Green, and only the first game the team has been held to one goal.

Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson's side next faces Whitecaps FC 2 away on April 26, 2015. S2 beat the Whitecaps 4-0 on March 29, 2015, but lost its only previous match-up with its Cascadia rival in preseason play. The game will be live-streamed on SoundersFC.com.
