The Seattle Sounders continue their path toward another trophy following their latest win over Club Tijuana in Phase One of Leagues Cup.
The Rave Green defeated Cruz Azul 7-0 and Santos Laguna 2-1 in their first two Phase One matches, but it wasn't until their victory over Club Tijuana, when they secured a spot into the Leagues Cup Quarterfinals.
Osaze De Rosario and Danny Musovski pushed the Sounders to victory on Wednesday night, with header-goals in the 56th and 87th minutes. De Rosario leveled the score after redirecting midifielder Ryan Kent's lofted ball toward the back post with his head and into the back of the net. Then, with less than five minutes left of regular time, Musovski tallied the game-winner with a header from point-blank range.
Seattle is the lone club from MLS or Liga MX to win all three Phase One matches. With the three wins, the Sounders now sit as the top MLS seed of the tournament heading into the knockout rounds. Their upcoming opponent will be determined following the remaining Phase One matches scheduled on Aug. 7.
