Seattle Sounders defender Roman Torres excited to be healthy, back in active roster

No one is happier about the return of Roman Torres than Roman Torres.

The Seattle Sounders defender suffered an ACL injury just four matches into his tenure last September, and has been in recovery for the past 10 months. On Tuesday, Seattle activated Torres off the disabled list. He is currently in Houston with the team and available for selection in Wednesday's match against the Dynamo (6 p.m. PT; JOEtv, ROOT Sports, El Rey 1360AM, 770 KTTH).

Ahead of the match, the Panamanian international tweeted his excitement about his comeback:

"It has been a tough test, but this helped me to be a better person and professional," he said. "Today I'm back and ready to give everything on the field, to enjoy the sport that I love, and share happy moments with all of you!"

Interim head coach Brian Schmetzer is also thrilled to have the center back healthy and active again, as it gives him more depth and flexibility in his back four.

"It gives me a big smile on my face," Schmetzer said Tuesday of Torres' return. "He's ready to go. We're happy to have him back."

The Sounders signed Torres in August 2015 from Colombian side Millonarios after he spent 11 professional seasons in the top flights of South and Central America.
