Major League Soccer has nominated Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey for Week 19’s AT&T Goal of the Week.
Dempsey scored a beautiful golazo in the 85th minute against the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday to send Seattle to a 3-1 win. Stefan Frei kicked the ball long to Will Bruin, whose flicked header met Dempsey in stride. The U.S. international then unleashed a one-timed left-footed volley past Tim Howard and secured all three points.
The goal was Dempsey’s second of the game and team-leading seventh of the season. The Sounders will host German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (12 p.m. PT; JOEtv, ROOT Sports outside Seattle, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM) before returning to MLS play on July 19 at home against D.C. United.
