- Clint Dempsey starts as the lone forward, farther up the field than his typical No. 10 role.
- Cristian Roldan starts in Dempsey’s place at center attacking midfield, a position Roldan played back in June on the road against the Portland Timbers, while Gustav Svensson starts alongside Ozzie Alonso. Roldan has six goals and three assists this season.
- Joevin Jones returns to the starting lineup at left back in place of Nouhou.
