U.S. Soccer U-20 men’s national team head coach Tab Ramos has called in Seattle Sounders forward Victor Mansaray to an 11-day training camp in Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 31-Feb. 10.
Mansaray, 19, is a Homegrown Player from Fife, Wash., who has played three games with the first team since signing following the 2014 season. He joins 23 other players in the final camp before February’s 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Costa Rica, which will send four teams to the 2017 FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup in South Korea in May.
“Our objective for this camp is to continue our preparation for the U-20 World Cup qualifiers,” Ramos said. “After having a fitness camp followed by a camp with a combination of fitness and local games, now we are looking to get into game rhythm and select the final roster.”
Ramos will select his final 20-man roster, which includes all players in the U.S. pool and not just those invited to Orlando, at the conclusion of camp. The World Cup qualifying tournament will run from Feb. 17-March 5, with the U.S. opening against Panama on Feb. 18.
