PREVIOUS MEETINGS: This will be the teams’ third meeting in just over a month. Seattle went down to Southern California twice, defeating the Galaxy 4-0 in MLS play on Aug. 10 before earning a 2-0 win in the Leagues Cup Semifinal on Aug. 27.
RIDING HIGH: The Sounders enter this weekend fresh off a week’s rest following their monumental Leagues Cup title win on Aug. 31 against Inter Miami. Seattle completed its trophy cabinet, adding the Leagues Cup to its four U.S. Open Cups, two MLS Cups, MLS Supporters’ Shield and Concacaf Champions Cup.
1-2 PUNCH: With starting forward Jordan Morris sidelined due to injury, the Sounders’ striker duo of Danny Musovski and Osaze De Rosario have more than picked up the slack. Musovski has five goals in his last three MLS matches, including a brace against the Galaxy. De Rosario, meanwhile, paced the Sounders with four goals in six Leagues Cup matches.
RACE FOR THE TOP FOUR: With just seven regular-season matches remaining, Seattle is looking to secure a top four spot in the Western Conference table to guarantee home-field advantage in the best-of-three opening round of the MLS Cup Playoffs. The Sounders are currently three points ahead of fifth-place LAFC, which has a match in hand.

CRUEL AWAY DAYS: The Galaxy are winless on the road in 15 MLS matches this year, posting an 0-9-6 mark. They are the only team in the league without a win away from home. The task doesn’t get any easier in Seattle, where the Sounders are tied for first in MLS with just one home loss.
PLAYER TO WATCH: Joseph Paintsil, F
It’s been a difficult sophomore season in MLS for Paintsil, who posted a double-double last year with 10 goals and 10 assists. The Ghanaian international has just five goals and two assists in 2024 but is still a threat flying up and down the wing.
