Head Coach Brian Schmetzer names his lineup for today's Western Conference match against Sporting Kansas City (12:08 p.m. PT; ABC, ESPN Deportes, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360AM) at Lumen Field. Here is the Delta Starting XI:
LINEUP NOTES:
- Coach Schmetzer is deploying a 4-2-3-1 formation with three changes from last Saturday’s match vs. LAFC: Yeimar, Kelyn Rowe and Will Bruin are replacing Xavier Arreaga, Obed Vargas and Fredy Montero.
- Arreaga (left hamstring strain) and Vargas (lower back stress fracture) are out for today’s match due injury, joining Raúl Ruidíaz (left hamstring strain) and João Paulo (right ACL tear) on the injury report.
- Today marks goalkeeper Stefan Frei’s 300th career appearance for Sounders FC across all competitions. He becomes the second player to reach the milestone in the MLS era (Osvaldo Alonso, 339 appearances). Dating back to 1974, the only player to accumulate more appearances than Frei or Alonso is “Mr. Sounder” Zach Scott, who tallied 352 prior to his retirement at the conclusion of the 2016 MLS season.
