MATCHDAY GUIDE

WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be televised on JOEtv and YouTube TV.

WHERE TO LISTEN: The match will air on 950 KJR AM and El Rey 1360 AM.

2019 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 7-4-5 (26 points, 3rd West), Whitecaps: 4-6-7 (19 points, 10th West)

FORM GUIDE (most recent first): Seattle: LLLDW, Vancouver: DDWDD

ALL-TIME HISTORY: The Sounders are 10-7-6 all-time against the Whitecaps in MLS play, including a 5-4-1 mark at home.

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Rave Green battled the Whitecaps to a scoreless draw in Vancouver back on March 30. Seattle dominated every phase of play, but their Cascadia rival’s bunker-down tactics paid off in the end. The best chance of the evening fell to forward Raúl Ruidíaz, who was denied a goal by the heroics of Vancouver’s Maxime Crepeau. The Whitecaps nearly stole a win in second-half stoppage time, but a ridiculous save by Stefan Frei and last-gasp block by Kim Kee-hee on the rebound saw the Sounders head back to Seattle with a point.

MISSED YOU, CLINK: Saturday marks the first time the Sounders have played a match at CenturyLink field since their 2-1 win over Orland City SC on May 15.

THANK YOU, CHAD: Former Sounders FC center back Chad Marshall, who announced his retirement from professional soccer on May 22, will be honored in a ceremony prior to kickoff. The three-time MLS Defender of the Year made 175 appearances for the Rave Green across the regular season and playoffs.

TACOCAT: Prior to kickoff, local band Tacocat will be performing on the Summer Music Stage presented by Zulily, which is located in the North Plaza, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. The concert is free for all fans with tickets to the match.

RIGHT THE SHIP: Through a combination of road fixtures, injuries and international call-ups, the Sounders ended the international break on a four-match winless run. The Cascadia derby match on Saturday presents an opportunity to reverse that run of form.

PRIDE: Saturday’s festivities also include Pride Day. The team will wear special jerseys emblazoned with Pride-themed numbers and the team captain will wear a Pride armband.

PRIDE ACTIVITIES

CLUB AND COUNTRY: Eight players are currently away with their respective national teams competing at the Copa América and Concacaf Gold Cup.

KING JORDY: Sounders midfielder Jordy Delem has been a crucial player for Martinique throughout the Gold Cup group stage, scoring a wonderful header in their 3-2 loss to regional powerhouse Mexico on Sunday.

REINFORCEMENTS: The Sounders lineup could be bolstered with players returning from international duty and injury match on Saturday. Trinidad & Tobago and have been eliminated, so the likes of Joevin Jones and Delem could be available. Depending on how Copa América results shakeout, the team could also include center back Xavier Arreaga.
