Sounders Academy product Morris making a habit of scoring against Mexico

Jordan Morris 0423

Jordan Morris may not have gained thousands of Twitter followers as he did last Wednesday, but this week provided another night to remember for the Sounders FC Academy product.

This time representing the United States with the U-23s, Morris scored his second goal in as many matches against archrival Mexico. The speedy forward netted the third tally in a 3-0 win for the USA, depositing a volley in the 68th minute of Wednesday’s friendly at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

The victory came exactly one week after Morris notched his first goal for the senior U.S. Men’s National Team in a 2-0 win over Mexico. It was his first start and third cap for Jurgen Klinsmann’s side, and the Seattle native performed admirably in front of 64,369 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Morris, 20, now has three international goals in 2015, as the Stanford University sophomore had previously scored in the U-23 MNT’s 5-2 win over the Bosnia & Herzegovina U-21 MNT last month. He had 10 goals and 13 assists in his first two years with the Cardinal, earning first-team All-American honors this past season.

Morris is a graduate of Mercer Island High School. His father, Dr. Michael Morris, has been the Sounders FC Medical Director since 2009.
