This week, Sounders Academy sent its U-14s to Sheffield, England to compete for the Youdan Trophy. The young Sounders went on to win their age group, defeating Charlton Athletic 5-2 in Monday's title match. Following the win, the squad celebrated with an energetic rendition of one of the club's most cherished songs, "Born in 1974."
The U-14s finished second in their group after defeating Doncaster Rovers 6-0 and falling to Sheffield United 2-1. Following shutout wins against Leeds United (1-0) and Sheffield Wednesday (4-0), the Sounders topped Charlton Athletic for the title. The win marks the third consecutive season that the Rave Green have claimed the Youdan Trophy, with the U-16s winning each of the past two seasons.
