VANCOUVER, BC – Seattle Sounders FC 2 fell 3-1 on the road to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 as the hosts scored two goals in the final minutes of the match. Sérgio Mota scored his first goal as a Sounder in the 67th minute to equalize, but Vancouver’s Victor Blasco scored twice in less than a minute to lead his side to victory.

S2 had two first-half counterattack chances that left S2 forward Oalex Anderson one-on-one with Whitecaps FC 2 goalkeeper Marco Carducci, but Carducci saved the first and Anderson was unable to get a clear shot on the other to capitalize.

Whitecaps FC 2 struck fist as Christian Dean scored his first goal of the season after a quick give-and-go with Brett Levis. Dean was left undefended in the box and got his shot past S2 goalkeeper Charlie Lyon.

The first half would end with the hosts leading, but Sérgio would equalize with a curling shot in the 67th minute. Oniel Fisher laid a short pass to Sérgio who took his shot from 22 yards out, marking his first goal and Fisher’s first assist of the season.

The second half saw chances from both sides, but it was Blasco who would find the game-winner in the 89th minute. Billy Schuler dribbled down the left side of the pitch and beat the S2 defense to the end line. Schuler cut his pass back to Blasco who scored past a diving Lyon.

Blasco added the insurance goal less than a minute later as he found himself clear on goal with Lyon. He fired his shot home to make it 3-1, and the match would end only a minute later.

S2 drops to 2-6-2 on the road, and is third place in the USL Western Conference.

Sounders FC 2 returns home on July 12 to face Arizona United SC for the second meeting between the clubs this season. The match also marks S2’s first-ever Bike Night, where fans are encouraged to ride their bicycles to the match to earn discounted tickets at the door. Kickoff for next Sunday’s match is slated for 5:00 p.m. PT at Starfire Stadium.
