The Sounders Academy U15 team is back in Seattle after winning the historic Youdan Trophy, and scoring some pretty phenomenal goals along the way.
Now supporters will have an opportunity to meet winners of the oldest tournament in the world before this weekend’s massive Cascadia clash with Portland Timbers on Sunday.
The team will attend The Ninety at 3 p.m., providing an opportunity for supporters to share in the celebrations and meet the players that toppled Newcastle United and FC Basel in Sheffield, England. Afterward, the young Sounders will head to Pioneer Square to take part in the March to the Match.
At halftime on Sunday, the boys will be presented with the Youdan Trophy on the pitch at CenturyLink Stadium.
Over the past couple of years, Sounders Academy has continually added to its extensive scouting network and local youth programming. As a result, more than 75 percent of the group that won Sounders Academy’s first major international tournament has been a part of the youth system since they were 12 years old. The fact that this group was able to win such a prestigious tournament is a testament to the ever-evolving youth system in the Emerald City.
