For the latest edition of Sounders FC Classics, a new series in which we re-air some of the best matches in club history, we want you to choose the next game!
Presented by Zulily, the four options fall under the theme of the Seattle-Portland Rivalry, spotlighting the iconic bouts between two of the most storied clubs in North America.
First up is Seattle’s dominant 3-0 victory over Portland in front of 66,000 supporters at CenturyLink Field in October of 2012. The second option is the Sounders’ epic comeback against the Timbers, earning a 4-4 draw courtesy of a Clint Dempsey hat trick. Later that season, the Sounders racked up an impressive 4-2 victory against their bitter rivals, with Obafemi Martins bagging a brace and Dempsey once again finding the back of the net against Portland. The fourth and final option, Seattle’s 2-1 win over the Timbers in August of 2015, features another masterclass from Martins and a herculean effort from Stefan Frei in goal.
In the buildup to Sounders FC Classics on May 23, there will be additional content programming geared toward raising money for the Sounders FC Relief Fund, including a FIFA20 showdown, live trivia and more.
