Sounders FC defender Román Torres activated from disabled list

Torres 8.23

SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC today announced that defender Román Torres has been activated from the Disabled List and re-joins the club's active roster, effective immediately.

Torres, 30, signed with Sounders FC on August 12, 2015 from Colombian side Millonarios and appeared in four matches for the club before suffering a left ACL tear at the San Jose Earthquakes on September 12, 2015. He underwent successful left knee surgery on September 25, 2015 in a procedure performed by Dr. Robert F. LaPrade in Vail, Colorado.
Torres joined the Rave Green last year following 11 professional seasons in South and Central American topflight football, including nine campaigns and three championships in Liga Àguila, Colombia's top division. The Panamanian National Team captain has 81 career international caps and led Panama to a third-place finish at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Unbeaten in four matches under Interim Head Coach Brian Schmetzer, the Rave Green now prepare for two road matches inside of a week, first traveling to face the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium on Wednesday, August 24 (6:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, ROOT SPORTS, 770 KTTH, El Rey 1360 AM). Seattle then prepares for its last regular season matchup against the Timbers on Sunday, August 28 at Providence Park. Kickoff for that contest is slated for 2:00 p.m. PT, with ESPN televising the match nationally, and KIRO Radio 97.3 FM and El Rey 1360 AM providing regional radio coverage.
