The weeklyaccolades just keep rolling in for the Rave Green.

Following Sounders FC’s thrilling 4-0 win over Minnesota United FC in the club’s 2021 MLS home opener on Friday night, Seattle has earned top billing in ESPN’s weekly power rankings.

“The most lopsided scoreline of the opening weekend belonged to Seattle, which throttled Minnesota United 4-0,” ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura wrote. “The Sounders have yet to finish lower than fourth in the Western Conference in their 12-year MLS existence, and there's no reason to believe this will be the year that changes.”

Sounders FC faces another difficult test in Week 2 as they venture south to face LAFC at Banc of California Stadium (3:00 p.m. PT; ESPN, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) on Saturday. Seattle’s lone road win against the Black & Gold came in the 2019 Western Conference Final, when Sounders FC picked up a massive 3-1 result in what is widely considered one of the best performances in club history.
