Seattle to Host Second Leg on March 12

RENTON, WASH.- Seattle Sounders FC will face Mexico's Tigres UANL in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2012-13 CONCACAF Champions League. The series will begin on March 6 in Monterrey, Mexico, and conclude on March 12 in Seattle.

Ticket information for the home match will be announced in January.

The two-leg, aggregate-goal series will open on Wednesday, March 6 at Tigres' Estadio Universitario. The second leg will be played on Tuesday, March 12 on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field.

The pairings for the Quarterfinal Round were determined by the Group Stage standings. The eight group winners were ranked based on point total and paired accordingly. Sounders FC finished the Group Stage as one of three unbeaten teams, securing the third overall seed. Tigres won Group 6 with two wins and two draws against Costa Rica's Alajuelense and Nicaragua's Real Estelí to capture the six seed.

The Sounders FC-Tigres victor will face the winner of Santos Laguna-Houston Dynamo. The third and final MLS club in the tournament is the LA Galaxy, who face Herediano of Costa Rica.

The Quarterfinal Round winners advance to the two-leg Semifinal Round, which will begin April 2-4 and conclude April 9-11. The final is set to begin April 24 and conclude May 1.

Tigres finished 12th in the Mexican Primera Division Apertura with a record of 5-6-6. The club won the 2011 Mexican Apertura and is making its first appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League. Tigres currently features two U.S. internationals in midfielders Jonathan Bornstein and Jose Torres.

The winner of the 2012/13 CONCACAF Champions League will earn a berth to the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco.

Sounders FC opens the 2013 MLS Regular Season at home on March 2 against the Montreal Impact. Seattle, along with Houston and Los Angeles, will have a bye in Week 2 of regular-season play to accommodate the Champions League schedule.
