Sounders FC selects two players on first day of 2017 MLS SuperDraft

LOS ANGELES, CALIF.
 - Sounders FC today selected two players on the first day of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Rave Green made Stanford defender Brian Nana-Sinkam the last selection in the First Round (22
nd
 overall), then chose Ghana international Dominic Oduro with the 44
th
 and final selection of the Second Round. Additionally, Seattle traded the 16
th
 overall pick of the First Round to New York City FC in exchange for $75,000 of General Allocation Money.
Nana-Sinkam, 22, started 67 of 71 appearances over four seasons at Stanford, including all 63 of his games played from 2014-2016. The Lititz, Pennsylvania native earned First Team All-Pac-12 and NSCAA Second Team All-Far West Region honors as a senior in 2016. A three-time Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention, Nana-Sinkam was a NCAA National champion in both 2015 and 2016 with the Cardinal, where he played alongside Sounders FC Homegrown Player and 2016 AT&T MLS Rookie of the Year Jordan Morris.
Oduro, 21, most recently played with FC Nordsjælland of the Danish Superliga after signing from Manchester City's Youth Academy in 2016. Originally from Ghana, Oduro joined Manchester City from the Right to Dream Academy in his home country in January of 2013. He has also spent time with Aarhus GF of Denmark, Mouscron of Belgium and IK Frej of Sweden.
Going into the day, Sounders FC also held the 16
th
 selection in the First Round, but traded the pick to New York City FC in exchange for $75,000 of General Allocation Money. Seattle acquired the pick originally from NYCFC last season for the MLS rights Kwadwo Poku.
The 2017 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas concludes on Tuesday, January 17 at 11:00 a.m. PT via conference call. Sounders FC holds 12
