The Seattle Sounders U-17s Academy squad won the Generation adidas Cup Premier Division Saturday afternoon defeating the New York Red Bulls 2-1 at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas.
After an early Red Bulls goal, Marlon Vargas responded for the Rave Green slamming home a finish from close range in the 13th minute to even the match. Alec Diaz would tally the winning goal 10 minutes before the final whistle giving the Sounders the championship for the first time in club history.
The Sounders won Group A of the Premier Division and advanced to the final after defeating the Montreal Impact 2-1 in the semifinals on goals from Ray Serrano and Marlon Vargas.
